Álvaro Prieto Ramos holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Extremadura and is an Associate Professor in the Computer Languages and Systems Area at the University of Extremadura (UEx). His teaching performance has been consistently recognized in the DOCENTIA quality program, receiving several Honorable Mentions for Academic Excellence.

His research interests have evolved from the study of Ontologies and the Semantic Web to Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) and, more recently, to Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. As a researcher, he has led and participated in numerous competitive projects and R&D contracts, authoring over 40 publications in high-impact journals and conference proceedings. He has a strong focus on technology transfer, having co-founded the spin-off MetrikaMedia S.L., which applies AI to the audiovisual sector. He has also developed high-social-impact solutions, such as predictive analytics models for employment and the Open Data Portal of Cáceres.

Currently, he combines his academic role with institutional leadership as the Director of E-Administration at UEx (since 2023), where he coordinated the launch of the new E-Office and currently manages its continuous evolution.
